Signature to SVG

A signed signature on paper is easy to photograph and hard to reuse. An SVG version scales to any document, letterhead or engraving without going soft. We trace the ink and drop the paper, so only the signature is left.

How to do it

  1. Sign with a dark pen on plain white paper. Photograph or scan it flat, in even light.
  2. Crop the picture close to the signature so there is little empty paper around it.
  3. Drop it above and set Mode to Cricut cut-ready (one colour). Choose Dark areas.
  4. Move Threshold until thin strokes stay joined, then raise Remove specks to clear paper grain.
  5. Download the SVG. It has no background, so you can place it on any page.

Use a thick pen

Thin pencil strokes break up when traced. A felt tip or gel pen gives a solid line.

Keep it private

Your signature stays in your browser. Nothing is uploaded while you trace it.

Check where it will be accepted

Some forms and agreements need a particular kind of electronic signature. A traced image is a picture of your signature, not a signing service.

Questions

Does the SVG have a transparent background?

Yes. Only the ink is traced, so the paper is not part of the file.

Can I use it on a laser engraver or stamp?

Yes. A one colour SVG is what laser software and stamp makers expect.

Is my image uploaded?

No. The tracing runs in your browser tab, so the image stays on your device.

What does it cost?

Three downloads a day are free. Unlimited is $7.99 a month, or a 20-image pack is $6.99 once.
